Weekly update from the Smethwick Neighbourhood Policing team

Dear Resident,

Here’s a quick round up from me and the rest of the Smethwick Neighbourhood team.

What’s been happening

  • PCSO’s have been into Dorothy Parkes centre this week holding a Police Surgery. We were happy to answer any questions any of the visitors had and offered some advice for a regular visitor to the centre. Please keep an eye out for the next surgery if you have any queries for us.
  • Great work by our officers this week resulted in 2 arrests for robbery. A call from a store on Bearwood High Street following a shop theft had an all-out shout for the team and within 30 minutes of the call being sent through, our officers had arrested 2 of the 3 males involved. The men were taken to custody for processing and officers continue to keep an eye out for the 3rd male.
  • Smethwick neighbourhood team held a meeting with the local ward co-ordinator this week which allowed us to discuss some of the issues raised to us by concerned residents. It’s always nice to work in partnership with other agencies and work together as a combined team to resolve some of the local problems.
  • Continuing on from last week – Officers are still patrolling areas of Smethwick after the recent firearms incidents, offering re-assurance to all local residents.
  • PCSO’s attended the WBA Foundation this week to catch up with the group and to chat to the members of the Hub. We always get a lovely welcome and it’s great to engage with so many people of our local community.
  • Officers have this week recovered a vehicle from a residential area that had been brought to our attention. Checks carried out on the vehicle confirmed that the vehicle was on cloned plates and had been reported stolen just a few days earlier.
  • PCSO’s have been outside Asda Cape Hill this week handing out purse bells to all those with handbags, shoulder bags etc… we also offered crime prevention advice around pick pocketing.
  • A number of vehicles have been seized for no insurance this week so more cars off the road and recovered.
  •

    A big thanks to

  • To our Partner Agencies – its always a pleasure to work with them to resolve issues and make our communities a nicer place to be.
  •

    Next week…

Street Watch walks booked in for next week – if this is something you would be interested in getting involved with, please speak with the PCSO’s when you see us out and about.
