Rurals Weekly Update

Good Morning from the Rurals Neighbourhood Team,

From all of us in West Midlands Police, as we know the weather is going to start warming up, thefts are a common occurrence  and hereโ€™s a few ways to help deter unwanted guests:

โ˜‘๏ธ Try and make your home look as occupied as possible.

๐Ÿ”‘ Do not leave your home and vehicle keys in the lock or on display.

๐Ÿ”” Have a look into doorbell cameras and other sorts of CCTV.

๐ŸŒ‚Do not leave items in porches that could be used to enter your home like curved-handled umbrellas. These can be used to prop open a door or hook your keys through the letterbox.

๐Ÿ”’Lock your windows and doors even when you're in. Double checked your UPVC door is locked.

๐Ÿ” Check your UPVC or Euro cylinder door lock is snap resistant, it should be stamped with a Kite Mark.

๐ŸŽ Prevent deliveries being left at the door, choose 'collect from store or locker' to avoid criminals seeing no one is home to take in the parcels

Crimes Update:

NEC

Theft โ€“ There was a theft of a vehicle from a car park on 03/04/24, 05/04/24, 08/04/24

If youโ€™re parking somewhere that is busy and that isnโ€™t your home out make sure you lock the car and double check the doors before you move away.

Dorridge & Hockley Heath:

Theft โ€“ A resident had their car stolen on the 04/04/24.

If you drive a Keyless start car, be wary that offenders can lock onto the signal emitted from the keys, advice from myself is to get a faraday bag or box which blocks any sort of signal from the key. However, if you do drive a key start car, then make sure everything in the house is secure and all doors and windows are locked and they keys are out of sight of any windows or doors.

Meriden & Balsall Common

ASB - There was a few reports of ongoing ASB in the area. If you witness any sort of ASB, please report it via 101 or Online webchat unless it is an emergency.

Following the points above will help with the deterring of potential thefts of homes and vehicles.

What are we doing?

Conducting extra patrols, working till the early hours to prevent burglaries and car thefts.
