What we have been doing recently.

Hello, and welcome to your round up from the St Matthew’s Neighbourhood Policing Team. Keeping the different communities in St Matthew’s informed of just some of the activities that we have done recently.

Some things that we have been doing on our patch:

As part of our support towards Safer Business in Walsall, the Neighbourhood teams have conducted reassurance visits to various businesses that have been affected and those neighbouring businesses around them.  This Operation has taken in the retail businesses, particularly in Walsall Town Centre, where patrols continue with some patrols being carried out in conjunction with Walsall Council’s Community Protection officers.

PC’s and PCSO’s from the team have been out and about this week working in partnership with Greensquare Accord Housing Officers, visiting properties and locations across Caldmore, where issues such as Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and neighbourhood issues have been causing problems within the projects and the wider community they are in. These visits are based on intelligence that is received from those people living in the community affected. On this occasion arrests were made.

The PCSO’s from the team have been conducting ‘drop in’ crime prevention surgeries in various locations including the Community Transport hub at St Paul’s Bus station and around the different town centre supermarkets.  Members of the public have been able to just drop in to discuss issues that concern them in their own community as well as those in St Matthews.  Good positive engagement and discussion, allowing PCSO’s to pass on information to different policing teams to follow up.

PCSO’s have recently taken part in community engagement events at St Matthew’s Church during their coffee morning on a Tuesday and also at Austin House in The Butts.  Again, positive discussions as well as signing up new WMnow members taking place.

Going forward:

We will continue to meet with the various communities in St Matthews as part of proactive working. We have a regular monthly spot at the Community Transport Hub in the bus station. On the last Monday in the month, if you fancy dropping in for a chat someone should be there.
