Hello, and welcome to your round up from the St Matthew’s Neighbourhood Policing Team. Keeping the different communities in St Matthew’s informed of just some of the activities that we have done recently.

Some things that we have been doing on our patch:

The PCSO’s from the team have recently conducted some community engagement on Friday night. They attended Walsall Street Ministry at St Pauls Church/ The Crossings, Darwall Street, Walsall Town Centre.  The PCSO’s engaged with community volunteers and members of the public. These volunteers engage regularly with the night time economy community in Walsall Town Centre, offering a listening ear, conversation and a hot drink for those who need it. Partnership working to keep our communities safe.

In Walsall Town Centre you may have noticed a higher visibility presence from your St Matthew’s teams.  Both PC’s and PCSO’s worked together in their teams this week, and conducted a number of knife sweep operations in and around Walsall town centre, these did included PC’s in plain clothes. The operations were seen as positive, as there were no issues or concerns for the officers to deal with during for the duration of them. There was also positive feedback given from members of the public who were pleased to see this type of operation going on.

PCSO’s from the team have been conducting reassurance patrols and visits to differing victims of crime.  Patrols have taken place on Bridge Street and Tameway Plaza were there has been Anti-Social Behaviour issues (ASB) that have been affecting this part of our community. Two PCSO’s also visited an individual victim of crime. The PCSO’s provided this person with appropriate information and crime prevention advice, so that she can keep herself safe after an incident she was involved with had taken place.
