Your neighbourhood police teams tackling anti-social behaviour and vehicle crime |
||
Hello Resident “This is what community is all about” – just one comment we’ve had from a Small Heath resident following an all-out day of action to tackle anti-social behaviour and vehicle crime. We’re really pleased to have had lots of positive feedback following a busy day on Wednesday (29 January), where our officers worked with partner agencies to deal with issues we know people living in the area are concerned about. Officers from our neighbourhood teams were joined by partners including Birmingham City Council’s parking enforcement, and Trading Standards, as well as the DVLA and Small Heath Community Forum. As well as engaging with residents and businesses and listening to their concerns – we seized more than 15 vehicles for various offences, as well as two electric bikes. Working in partnership with the council, we conducted street licensing visits – closing one business and giving five others information on how to comply with the law. We also supported the council with removing waste from surrounding roads. Neighbourhood Police Chief Inspector Haroon Chughtai said: “We know anti-social behaviour is under reported in our communities for various reasons, however we also know that our communities like many others suffer with long-standing problem areas. “Op Hafren is a monthly, visible, partnership-led operation, demonstrating to the community that we do listen and respond by working together to tackle these areas.”
