Local crime Below is a snapshot of the crime that has been recorded in the Shirley area between the 10th April 2025 to the 27th April 2025: Burglaries: Between 17:00pm on the 11/04/2025 and 08:00am on the 16/04/2025 a Yamaha quad bike was stolen from within a garage situated in the rear garden of a property on Sandy Hill Road. Vehicle crime: Between 13:00pm and 15:52pm on the 17/04/2025 a black Range Rover Evoque was stolen from the driveway of a property on Solihull Road.Between 23:30pm on the 17/04/2025 and 12:30pm on the 18/04/2025 a BMW was stolen from Swinbrook Way. The vehicle was later recovered from a different location due to apple airpods being tracked that were left in the vehicle.Between 19:30pm and 20:08pm on the 10/04/2025 a grey Ford Kuga was stolen from Burman Road.Between 17:30pm and 23:00pm on the 10/04/2025 two holes were drilled into the side door of a grey Ford Transit that was parked at the Regency Hotel, Stratford Road. A large portion of the door was then cut out. Copper wire was then stolen from within the van.Between 11:30am and 11:45am on the 11/04/2025 a black and red Royal Enfield motorbike was stolen from outside Curry’s, Chalford Way.Between 13:00pm on the 13/04/2025 and 07:30am on the 14/04/2025 a white Ford Transit was stolen from Haslucks Green Road.Between 18:35pm and 18:45pm on the 17/04/2025 a blue Ford Focus was stolen from Falstaff Road.At 23:40pm on the 18/04/2025 a Toyota Yaris was stolen from School Road. The victim was then located and recovered from a separate location using a tracking device.Between 16:15pm on the 25/04/2025 and 12:19pm on the 26/04/2025 a black Mercedes-Benz was stolen from the Village Hotel Car Park, Dog Kennel Lane.Between 22:00pm on the 22/04/2025 and 03:30am on the 23/04/2025 the side panel of a white Ford Transit that was parked on Haslucks Croft was cut open. Tools were then stolen from within the vehicle.Between 22:00pm and 22:04pm on the 22/04/2025 a hole was cut in the side door of a Renault Vivaro that was parked on Yardley Wood Road. No tools were stored within the vehicle. Between 19:00pm and 19:20pm on the 25/04/2025 a hole was drilled into the side lock of a white Renault Panel Van that was parked at the Colebrook Inn, Haslucks Green Road. A number of tools were then stolen from within the van. A hole was also cut into the side door of a white Ford Transit and items taken from inside. The individual(s) responsible were wearing balaclavas and drove away in a black Ford S-Max.Between midnight and 07:00am on the 27/04/2025 a satnav and sweets were stolen from the glove box of a white Renault that was parked on Pear Tree Crescent. Crime prevention advice Please consider purchasing a steering wheel lock for your vehicle. This will decrease the chances of your vehicle being targeted by offenders. Also remember to double check that your vehicle is locked, before leaving it unattended. Even loose change can be appealing to vehicle offenders.Where possible don’t leave tools inside your van overnight or when not in use. This will make it more difficult for potential burglars to gain access to your home. Installing a monitored burglar alarm is also a great deterrent. Try to make the front and rear of your property as well-lit as possible by installing motion activated lighting.CCTV is a great deterrent for offenders. This can also be crucial in linking criminals to multiple crimes. As a result, local officers have been conducting targeted patrols in these locations, with the aim of providing a visible presence, engaging with the local community and deterring this type of behaviour. When your local Officers are off duty, these patrols are conducted by policing teams from other areas, ensuring that there is continual coverage. Officers record the results of these patrols and the information is then returned to the home office. Your local officers have been hard at work conducting these patrols, so please feel welcome to have a chat when you see us.Shirley officers have now trained volunteers for a brand-new Shirley Speedwatch group. This group, along with officers from our team, will be conducting Speedwatch operations in the local area to monitor reports of speeding. This data can then be used for speed enforcement in the future.On the 23rd April 2025 Shirley Officers were involved in an operation that Focused on shop thefts and vehicle thefts in the Shirley and Solihull areas. As a result, two shoplifters were arrested, three vehicles were seized and a number of individuals were moved on in relation to begging in the area. A number of fixed penalty notices were also issued in relation to a multitude of vehicle offences.Shirley officers have been enforcing the Solihull School Streets initiative on Clifton Crescent this week. Please avoid driving down this road, weekdays between 08:30am-09:10am and 14:45pm- 15:45pm unless you have a permit, as you may receive a fixed penalty notice.
