Bordesley Green Crime update WC 12th

Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team – Weekly Update | May 12th 2025

Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly crime and team updates for the Bordesley Green area.

Apologies that this has come out slightly later then usual. It has been a busy week with a lot of activity going on. Some weeks there will be duplication around advice etc. The purpose of these are so you know where incidents are happening in your area. Feedback is always appreciated.

Crime Updates

Burglaries

There were two burglaries reported this week—one on St Benedicts Road, the other on Pretoria Road. Please help protect your property by:

  • Locking all doors and windows
  • Installing anti-snap locks
  • Using outdoor lighting and CCTV
  • Securing sheds, garages, and other outbuildings where valuables may be stored
  •

    Vehicle Crime

We’ve seen an increase in vehicle-related crime across the Bordesley Ward, including:

  • 4 thefts from motor vehicles
  • 3 thefts of motor vehicles
Please remove valuables from your vehicle and report any suspicious activity.
  •

    Robbery

There have been no reports of robbery this week. If you are aware of any unreported incidents, please contact us via 101.

    Assaults

There have been multiple assaults without injury, many of which are domestic-related. These are taken very seriously and the team is actively supporting those involved.

    Team Updates

Community Engagement – Sultan Hall Meeting

A recent community meeting was attended by our team, where residents raised several important local concerns:

  • Homelessness and drug use along Coventry Road
  • Footpath obstructions caused by shops and stalls displaying goods outside
  • Persistent fly-tipping and parking issues, particularly on Baker Street
  • Ongoing development of a new homeless shelter on 1 Baker Street aimed at supporting both men and women in need
  • Reports of long-standing, possibly abandoned vehicles in the area
  • Requests for more high-visibility patrols, especially around busy shopping areas
  •

We’ll continue working closely with residents and local organisations to address these issues.

    Operation NEXO

This week, our team supported Operation NEXO at the local hospital—an initiative focused on reducing violence and aggression toward NHS staff and clinical teams.

It was a great success, with very positive feedback from hospital staff, who appreciated our visibility and engagement. These efforts are part of our ongoing work to make healthcare environments safer for everyone.

    Cuppa with a Copper

Today is a busy one as we host two ‘Cuppa with a Copper’ sessions. These are great opportunities to raise local concerns and chat with the team in a relaxed environment.
