Celebrating Birmingham Pride safely Heading to Birmingham Pride this weekend? We want you to have fun, but stay safe at the same time. Remember to: Plan your journey to and from the event in advance – use public transport to avoid worrying about parking If you are driving to the event, make sure to park in a secure location and use a steering wheel lock. Before leaving your vehicle, ensure you lock all windows, doors and the sunroof, and check you haven’t left any valuables on display Stay together with your friends and loved ones Keep your mobile phone and valuables secured and out of sight Project Servator deployments take place regularly across Birmingham and if you’re heading to this weekend’s event, you’ll likely see our specialist officers carrying out deployments across the city. Officers are specially-trained to spot the signs of hostile reconnaissance – information gathering that criminals do to help them plan or prepare to commit a crime. You can help by letting a police officer or member of security staff know straight away if you see something that concerns you or doesn’t feel right. We also use specialist resources during deployments to keep you safe, such as plain clothes officers, police dogs and CCTV operators. If you see extra officers in the city – don’t be alarmed, there’s nothing to worry about. Deployments are designed to be unpredictable and can happen anywhere at any time, but please feel free to chat to officers if you have any concerns. So whether you’re watching or participating in the parade, celebrating in a venue or will be down at the festival site, stay safe, look out for others and have fun!
Have a good weekend
