Hello :-)

Hi All,

Firstly I would like to introduce myself, I am Ranbir Lally, a dedicated neighbourhood officer (DNO) for your local area.

I am aware that my supervisor, PS Paul Bishop has recently sent you a message regarding DNO’s, however I thought that I would reach out and introduce myself.

I have been a police officer for nearly 16 years and worked at West Bromwich for the whole of my service. Working within neighbourhood policing has always been my passion and my aim is to assist you and our local communities, particularly with any ongoing long term issues.

Over the past several years I have built up a number of great relationships with local partners and if I am not able to assist with your issues then I will be able to refer you in the right direction!

Other local DNO’s and myself aim to provide you with a weekly update of the teams actions and priorities.

As this is my first message, I would like to promote a number of West Midlands Police initiatives

1 – The CCTV registry  (please visit CCTV Registry | West Midlands Police for full details)

Your CCTV helps us to solve real crimes

Register your CCTV and doorbell cameras with us today to receive alerts when your footage may help us catch criminals operating in your area.

It takes just 60 seconds to add your details to our secure police system and within minutes, you could be helping us solve serious crimes. You’ll just add your name, address, email and the number of cameras you control.

How it works in three steps:

  • Register your cameras securely in 60 seconds.

  • You will receive a text or email when a crime happens near your home or business and our officers believe your CCTV may have recorded the incident.

  • Upload the images via the secure link contained in the message.

  •

2 -Operation Snap (please visit Operation Snap | West Midlands Police for full details)

We want to make sure our roads are as safe as possible for all users. That's why we have Operation Snap (Op Snap) - and we need your help.

If you see anyone committing driving offences on our roads and it's captured on your dashcam, CCTV or a mobile phone by a passenger, we want you to send it in to us.

    Offences might include:

  • dangerous driving
  • using a mobile phone while driving
  • not wearing a seatbelt
  • failing to stop at a red traffic light
  • using a trailer in lane three of a motorway
  • crossing solid white lines
  • other offences where a driver is clearly not in proper control of a vehicle

  • Every piece of footage sent to Op Snap is reviewed by specially-trained staff.

If an offence is identified, the driver can be prosecuted or told to take a driver improvement course.

3- Safer nights out – Ask for Angela (please visit Safer Nights Out | West Midlands Police for full details)

    Your safety, our priority

Ever been on a date that’s taken a turn for the worse? Or maybe you’ve felt uncomfortable in a bar or club? If so, you’re not alone.

Bars and clubs across the UK are now part of the Ask for Angela scheme. It’s a simple but powerful initiative that can help keep you safe.

How does Ask for Angela work?

If you’re feeling uneasy, simply approach a member of staff and ask for “Angela.” This code phrase lets the staff know you need help. They’ll then offer discreet assistance, whether it’s escorting you to a taxi or helping you contact a friend or family member.

So, next time you’re out and about, remember: Ask for Angela. It could be a lifesaver.

From next week, one of your DNO’s will provide you a round up of the teams activities from the previous week.

Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you.

    Regards

    Ranbir.
