Selly Oak - Op Skybridge Update. |
||
Good afternoon!
It has been a little over 21 days since Op Skybridge deployed to Selly Oak with the task of reducing serious and acquisitive crimes (SAC).
I am pleased to share with you the below figures comparing the 21 days before we deployed and the 21 days since we deployed.
Burglary is DOWN 66% Robbery is DOWN 83% Theft or motor vehicle is DOWN 20% Theft from motor vehicle is DOWN 58%
This is evidence that our current approach is working. However, we will continue to pro-actively work in partnership with the local neighbourhood team and ensure we do everything we can do further reduce the number of people that find themselves victims of crime.
I am also pleased to share a recent example of this work where on 17/09/25, plain clothed Skybridge officers had observations on a male wearing a balaclava riding a motorbike on the High Street. Believing a robbery was about to take place, Skybridge officers have swiftly deployed and after a short foot chase on Dawlish Road, we have detained X4 males for the purpose of a search. The motorbike was found to be stolen and a car was identified as having been used in crime. As a result, two were arrested for multiple offences and both vehicles were recovered.
The team remain in Selly Oak, tacking crime and pro-actively seeking out those intent on causing you and your community harm.
If you have any information relating to burglary, robbery or vehicle crime, please contact the police on 101, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or you can contact the team on Opskybridge@westmidlands.police.uk
ALWAYS CALL 999 IN AN EMERGENCY.
Kind regards, Op Skybridge.
