Longford Updates |
||
Dear Residents and Local Businesses,
Here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, to let you know some of what we've been busy dealing with:
PATROLS Officers have been carrying out patrols of the Longford areas on foot and in vehicles. We have been paying particular attention to locations that have recently experienced an increase in crime and anti-social behaviour.
VEHICLE CRIME We are continuing to see vehicle crime in the Longford area. We have had three thefts from vehicles.
We have had two theft from vehicles on the Bell Green Road in the early hours of 15/09/2025 – one vehicle had food items stolen and the other had bank cards stolen. The third theft from vehicle occurred between 12/09/25 and 15/09/25 whereby a vehicle’s registration plate was stolen.
There has also been an increase in keyless vehicles being stolen alongside vehicles being broken into and tools stolen from within. We recommend that owners of these vehicles use a steering wheel lock to prevent against theft and to remove any tools from their vehicles when the vehicle is not in use.
You can find out more about vehicle crime prevention here: Theft of motor vehicle | Your Options | West Midlands Police (west-midlands.police.uk) and here: Theft from motor vehicle | Your Options | West Midlands Police (west-midlands.police.uk)
STREETWATCH We are looking for volunteers to get involved in a local Streetwatch group within the Longford and Bell Green areas - if you would like more information or if you're interested in joining, please contact Streetwatch@westmidlands.police.uk with your name, telephone number and postcode.
OTHER INFORMATION We have now confirmed dates for our next community meetings and engagements: Cuppa With A Copper – 26th September 2025 at 17:30hrs at Bell Green Library, Riley Square Police and Community Together (PACT) Meeting – 21st January 2026 at 18:30hrs at St. Thomas’ Church, Longford Road.
If you have information about people committing crime that you want to tell us about, you can contact us on the non-emergency telephone number 101. You can also report to us online using our report forms on: Report | West Midlands Police
Alternatively you can contact the CRIMESTOPPERS charity anonymously by calling 0800 555 111. This is a free phone number. CRIMESTOPPERS can also be contacted online here: Independent UK charity taking crime information anonymously | Crimestoppers (crimestoppers-uk.org)
Please do not report crime via WMnow because it is not always monitored.
Kind regards, The Henley and Longford Neighbourhood Team | ||
