Weekly round-up from your local Neighbourhood Team

Here’s a quick round up from me and the rest of the Springfield neighbourhood policing team.

❓ What's been happening ❓

Arrests. Officers have made a number of arrests this week for various offences. These include shop theft, domestic abuse and recall to prison. Officers also located a wanted male for failing to appear at courts around the country.#

Formans Road. Officers were out again on Formans Road seizing vehicles for no tax. A total of 7 were seized. We will continue operations in this area on a regular basis.

Wellesley Gardens. Officers have been out patrolling Wellesley Gardens this week following reports of anti-social behaviour in the car parks. Officers located two males who were reported for drug possession offences. Further to this, PCSO Gray and Devey seized an abandoned vehicle causing an obstruction this evening following reports from residents.

Nitrous Oxide. Officers located a vehicle on Tuesday Evening which had earlier failed to stop for officers. Located within were numerous cannisters of nitrous oxide that were seized along with the vehicle. An individual was detained following a foot chase and has been prosecuted with these offences. We know that the community are regularly reporting issues in relation to nitrous oxide and we will continue to tackle both the sale and use with our partners this year.

✅ Crime Prevention Tips for the darker nights

Please don’t make it easy for criminals.

Most crime is opportunistic, and offenders are looking for the quickest, easiest target. Please take a few seconds to double checks your security routines.

Ensure your vehicle is locked with no valuables left on display – even a jacket or loose change can tempt a thief. Utilise extra security measures such as steering wheel locks.

For your home, create the illusion of occupancy by using timer switches. Also consider CCTV, outdoor lighting and anti-snap locks.
