Hi all, Just a message from your local Neighbourhood Team .. ..Keep safe in Wednesfield & Heath town this coming February (and beyond !!).. ….. Again this new year (2026), the West Midlands Police (WMP) recommends focusing on home security during travel and personal safety in public areas. 1. Home Security While Away If you are travelling out for a well deserved break, follow these steps to make your home appear occupied: Use Timer Switches: Set indoor lights and radios to turn on automatically in the evening. Manage Deliveries: Cancel any newspaper or milk deliveries and ask a trusted neighbour to push mail fully through the letterbox so it doesn't pile up. Social Media Privacy: Avoid posting about your trip out on public social media accounts until you return, as this can alert burglars to an empty home. Secure Entry Points: Double-lock all doors and ensure side gates, sheds, and garages are bolted. 2. Safety in Wednesfield & Heath Town Local neighbourhood teams are actively patrolling hotspots to manage seasonal activity: Bentley Bridge Retail Park: Expect a high-visibility police presence to deter anti-social behaviour (ASB) and shop theft around the shopping centre and McDonald’s. Public Safety: When out in busy areas, keep your phone and valuables out of sight to prevent snatch thefts, especially by offenders on bikes or mopeds. Reporting Concerns: Use the WMP Online Contact Tool for non-emergencies or call 999 in an emergency. 3. Vehicle Security Don’t "Plonk" It: WMP is strictly enforcing parking to ensure pavements remain clear for pedestrians and pushchairs. Lock Checks: Always manually check your car door handle after using a key fob to ensure the signal hasn't been blocked by a jammer. Hide Valuables: Never leave shopping bags or electronics visible in your car; store them in the boot before you reach your destination. 4. Local Engagement Residents can meet their local officers, including at community surgeries to discuss specific concerns. | ||
