Pavement Parking …. Tipton, Great Bridge and Princes End areas
In the Tipton and Great Bridge area, West Midlands Police (WMP) uses the "Don't Plonk It! Park It!" campaign via WMNow to address inconsiderate parking. According to local police guidelines and the Sandwell Council Enforcement Policy, vehicles parked on the pavement must not: Restrict the pavement: Drivers must not block access for pedestrians, especially those using mobility scooters, pushchairs, or wheelchairs. Force pedestrians into the road: It is considered "extremely dangerous" if parking forces a double pushchair or visually impaired person into the flow of traffic. Restrict access to properties: Vehicles must not block residential or commercial driveways. Block views at junctions: Parking near junctions creates blind spots that risk lives; such offences can result in a fine and three penalty points. Cause damage: Motorists must not damage footpaths, grass verges, or kerbs. Contravene existing rules: Parking on the pavement next to yellow lines is illegal, as restrictions apply from the centre of the road to the back of the pavement. How to Report Issues Physical Obstruction: If a vehicle is "plonked" and physically blocking the path, report it to West Midlands Police as antisocial behaviour via the WMP Report Illegal Parking tool. Parking Restrictions: For cars parked on yellow lines or blocking dropped kerbs, contact Sandwell Council via the My Sandwell portal. Thank you from Tipton Police Station.
