|
Officers have been out on patrol today around Rushall, Shelfield. At approx 10.50hrs officers saw 2 off road bikes, one on Bickley Road that sped off towards Wintery Lane and the other riding off from officers down Radley Road. The drivers both appeared young, wearing all black, black buffer jacket with hood up. One of the bikes was yellow and black and the other fully black. If anyone has any knowledge of these bikes or what address they come from would you please share with us, this can be anonymous via crimestoppers. https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/give-information-anonymously These types of bikes are usually being driven erratically and often used for criminal activity. We have received many reports from members of the community stating this is a regular occurrence and is causing nuisance in the area. To report this type of crime, see the below link;
https://www.westmidlands.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb-v3/report-antisocial-behaviour/ Key Dangers of Off-Road Bikes Physical Injury and Safety: The risk of injury is high, with an estimated 1 in 200 riders injured in motocross events. Accidents often result from loss of control on uneven terrain, high speeds, or collisions with trees and other obstacles. Illegal and Risky Public Use: Riding on public land, pavements, parks, or nature reserves is illegal and endangers the public. Such activity can cause serious, sometimes fatal, accidents for both riders and pedestrians. Anti-Social Behavior and Legal Consequences: Improper use of off-road bikes leads to noise complaints, public intimidation, and damage to private/public property. Police can seize machines and, under the Road Traffic Act 1988, arrest riders for illegal driving. Environmental Damage: Reckless riding can destroy green spaces, farmers' fields, and natural habitats. Safety Risks for Children: The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no motorized dirt biking for children under 16 due to physical and developmental limitations, which make managing these vehicles difficult. Vehicle-Related Dangers: Many off-road bikes, particularly older or modified ones, may have inadequate brakes, poor suspension, or abrupt power delivery, making them difficult to handle.
