Hello Resident
To report a vehicle with no tax in or , you should follow these steps for 2026: 1. Verify Tax Status Before reporting, check the current tax status for free using the GOV.UK Check Vehicle Tax service. You will need the vehicle's registration number (number plate).
2. How to Report The DVLA is the primary authority for untaxed vehicles. Your report is anonymous.
Online (Fastest): Use the official GOV.UK Report an Untaxed Vehicle form. By Phone: You can call the dedicated enforcement line at 0343 2241 999.
Required Details: Vehicle registration number (number plate). Make, model, and colour of the vehicle. Exact location (street name, town, and postcode) where the vehicle is parked.
3. Reporting to Local Authorities Wolverhampton Council: If the vehicle appears abandoned (e.g., damaged, stationary for weeks, or missing parts), report it to Wolverhampton City Council. West Midlands Police: Only contact the police via 101 if the vehicle is causing an immediate obstruction or is in a dangerous condition. They do not typically investigate reports where the only issue is missing tax.
Important Notes SORN Vehicles: A vehicle with a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) must be kept on private land. If a SORN vehicle is parked on a public road in Wednesfield or Heath Town, it should be reported to the DVLA the same way as an untaxed vehicle. Private Land: Local councils generally cannot remove untaxed vehicles from private land without the landowner's permission. Thank You | ||
