Dear Residents, Here’s a brief snippet of what our Smethwick Neighbourhood Team have been up to this week: Smethwick town Officer have conducted a bus operation with bus inspectors in the Cape Hill area; several buses were checked for weapons and Several people removed from the bus where fines were issued for no tickets. Smethwick town Officer have stopped a vehicle due to the manner of his driving on Gilbert Road location highlighted by residents for speeding, ones stopped the Driver this vehicle turned out to be provisional license holder and already had 9 points on his license for speeding. Driver reported for driving otherwise than accordance with the license. Local PCSO’s have conducted a presentation on the dangers of social media and emoji language at the Brasshouse. As so many youths in high school and primary school have mobile phones or iPads. They use text language through emoji’s, we are trying to build awareness and understanding for the parents to safeguard their children. Local PCSO’s have conducted a police drop-in surgery at Smethwick library of Smethwick high Street talking to the locals who attended this surgery police offering support and reassurance offered best advice offered where needed. St Pauls PCSO’s have had a meeting with the events manager at the Hawthorns football ground in relation to Greggs in response to complaints around people begging outside Greggs nearby we are currently working on solutions together and offering support to the homeless peoples and working around long-term intervention plans. We continue to work with the shops and their security staff If you happen to be shopping and see something suspicious that doesn’t look quite right, tell a member of the store staff or security – we all need to work together to stop these people. Remember – don’t ever approach someone you suspect. Your safety is important. St Pauls PCSO’s have conducted patrols of West Smethwick Park and engaged with the community who attends this Park and the centre of this park offering reassurance and support and enquiring any knowledge of future events may take place in this park. A vehicle was stopped on Bearwood Road Smethwick, and the driver was found to have no insurance and no driving licence. He has been reported for both offences and the vehicle was seized. Smethwick town officers have arrested two males for immigration matters. |
