Spring Safety and Community Reassurance: Supporting our communities through spring time |
||||
|
Dear all resident,
As weather is getting better, keeping our communities safe and reassured remains a key priority for local policing. As Police Community Support Officers. our role is to provide visible reassurance, identify concerns early, and work alongside partnership agencies to address issues before they escalate.
One of our main priorities during this period has been conducting late night patrols across St'Pauls. These patrols play a vital role in maintaining visible policing presence. High visibility patrols not only deter antisocial behaviour and criminal activity, but also give reassurance to residents who may be travelling, or returning home from work. Engaging with members of the public during these patrols allows us to listen to concerns and provide reassurance where and when needed.
In addition to patrols, we have continued to deliver police surgeries, which are an important way of engaging with the residents. Our most recent surgery focused on emoji language and online communication, an increasingly relevant topic for parents, guardians and professionals working with young people. This session, took place on Friday, 24th April at the Brasshouse. it was aimed at teachers, and professionals, though it was open to everyone. Understanding emoji and online language can be used inappropriately or in a harmful behaviour. Therefore, is essential in safeguarding young people in today's digital environment.
We have also continued to address parking concerns across the area, recognising that poorly parked vehicles can cause significant disruption and safety risks. Ensuring streets remain accessible for pedestrians, emergency services and residents is an important part of maintaining safe neighbourhoods. We will continue to engage with the community and take appropriate action where necessary to resolve these issues.
Our focus remains on visibility, reassurance and prevention. By listening to our communities, working closely with partner agencies and maintaining a strong presence on our streets, we aim to ensure residents feel safe, supported and confident that their concerns are being taken seriously throughout Spring and beyond.
