Weekly Round-up! |

Good evening Resident,
Did you miss me? 😂 As promised, I'm back, all good as new and ready to bring you an update on what your neighbourhood city centre teams have been up to this week!
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – Five arrests have been made this week by city centre officers. One arrest was made for Indecent Exposure whereby an individual was seen inside Wolverhamptons Central Library enjoying his quiet time a little too much. After CCTV was collected from the location, the individual was quickly identified and apprehended, leading to his being charged and bailed with conditions not to enter the Library. Two arrests were made in relation to shop thefts at retailers in the city by prolific offenders, with both individuals being charged and bailed, due to appear in court at a later date. A young male was arrested for 4 thefts whereby he has entered retail premises, asked to look at items before snatching and making off with said items. Upon arrest a quick search of his bag uncovered a small amount of Class A drugs and the male was then further arrested for possession. Whilst not quite on the city centre, our officers helped out with the apprehension of a male wanted for GBH Assault on Friday night during their NTE patrols. A number of community resolutions were carried out in relation to thefts at both Primark and Matalan. As both retail premises were given all the stolen items back our officers thought this was the best solution rather than creating crime reports, much to the appreciation of the retailers.
Community Engagement – PC Moore-Harbach and PCSO Wykes took time out of their day to day and visited the BANK club on Lichfield Street to take part in a networking event. These events help us to join up with various existing and new partners to further improve the way we do our job within the city.
Team One held their much loved Cuppa with a Copper meeting this week. This time in the Compton Care Café. They once again felt very welcome and had the chance to speak with faces old and new. Team Three carried out their regular crime prevention stands within the Bus Station and ASDA, Jack Hayward Way. These locations prove to be very useful with the sheer volume of people our PCSOs manage to speak to and the amount of goodies they can give out! Our new business crime lead PCSO Whalley took the time out of her busy schedule to take a walk around the city centre with teachers from a local school. The proved to be beneficial as we seem to be moving forward with a new partnership and potentially developing new video resources to play in schools so children can see how anti-social behaviour and minor theft can impact businesses and the way they interact with school children.
Guardian Patrols – Business as usual with our patrols this week, nothing new to report and no Guardian Task Force or Servator Patrols carried out this week.
Night-Time Economy – Only one NTE patrol to update you with today, I will give you tonight's update on next weeks update. First off, additional support was brought in last night from the outer sectors to deal with the large amount of calls for service we had coming in. Early on in the evening our officers were required to deal with some of our non urgent logs to help with demand as our response teams were wiped out. During the course of the night our female officers took the lead on going in to all the clubs, pubs and bars to display posters regarding spiking and hand out some anti-spiking drinks protectors. Many people to the opportunity to stop and have a chat with our officers regarding all things VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) and ‘Ask Angela’.
Other News - PCSOs took the opportunity to go around the city and visit some residential properties that have been of some interest lately, in an attempt to generate some more buzz around the WMNow platform and hopefully give people a lifeline to talk to the police and talk about what's going on where they live (What it's like living within the Ring Road) Finally, officers were able to work with Trading Standards, Licensing and the Socex team this week, and carry out some checks at businesses within the city.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you look forward to the next one!
