Hi everyone,
Speed Watch Good news for road safety in our area – we’ve just completed Community Speed Watch Training with a group of local volunteers. 4 volunteers attended the training session on 09/04/26. Volunteers were trained on how to safely use speed detection equipment and record vehicle details correctly. The Speed Watch team will be out at key times in areas you’ve told us about where speeding is a concern, starting soon. They’re there to educate drivers and gather data, not to issue fines. Persistent offenders will be contacted by police. A big thank you to the volunteers who have given their time to make our roads safer. If you’d like to get involved, please get in touch.
Community Engagement Thanks to everyone who spoke with us at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Service. We also had a great chat with the Gardeners group and held Information and Advice surgery at Hawkesley Community Centre on 13/04/26. We covered local concerns and gave out the WMNow cards.
Drop-In Sessions We held a face-to-face Drop-In session at Sweet Project along with a great team of social workers in Hawkesley on 14/04/26. It was good to meet with you directly, hear your concerns about local issues, and discuss them on spot. We also shared practical crime prevention advice for homes and vehicles. If you have any further concerns, please see us at the next session on 20th May at 10am-12pm.
Greaves Community Hall is Now Open! It was brilliant to meet residents at Greaves community centre at Greaves Square on 15/04/26. This new space gives the community a central place for events, support, and activities right on the doorstep. If you want to know what’s running or how to book the hall, pop in and speak to the Jahsar Association team on site.
Patrol Update – Beech Hurst Following reports of workman knocking doors and asking elderly residents for money, we have been carrying out extra patrols in the Beech Hurst area. No suspicious activity was found during these patrols. A quick reminder:
Vehicle Seizure Update – Redhill Road On 18/04/26, a SORN vehicle was seized from Redhill Road after being identified on patrol. A reminder: vehicles declared SORN must not be kept or used on a public road. If you see vehicles abandoned or being used illegally, report it to us via 101.
Community Meeting – Chas Mann Thanks to everyone who stopped by to talk through local concerns and share what’s been happening on your streets. We have noted the main issues to follow up including speeding in the area. Keep an eye out for details on the next community meeting.
Street Meeting Good to see those of you who came out to Greaves Square on 12/05/26. We discussed local concerns including illegal parking in the area and engaged with the local businesses.
Reassurance Patrols – Anti-social behaviour Following reports of youth causing ASB around Sisefield Road and McDonald’s, we carried out reassurance patrols in the area this week. We also spoke with residents to hear what you’re seeing on the ground. The information has been logged, and we’ll continue targeted patrols in response.
Street Watch Our wonderful team of Kings Norton Street Watch volunteers conducted street walks on 26/04/26 and 07/05/26. If you would also like to join our Street Watch group, please contact Sam on sam.odell@westmidlands.police.uk
