Attempted theft of motor vehicles in Manor Road, Sutton Coldfield. |
||
|
Dear Resident. At 1.50 am on the 21st of June 2026 a group of 4 males , wearing black balaclavas were seen around several motor vehicles in Manor Road, Sutton Coldfield. They had what appeared to be a scanning device which was being used to attempt to open the vehicles. The group were disturbed by a member of the public shouting out at them. They made off from the area before they could gain entrance to the vehicles. Scanning devices are used by criminals to read the codes of keys belonging to vehicles with keyless ignitions, and door locks. Once they hold the code this is used to open and start the targeted vehicles. We recommend the use of a Faraday key pouch to store your keys to such vehicles in when they are not in use. These help prevent the scanning devices from reading the key codes. These are available from various online sellers.
