Weekly update

Dear Residents and Local Businesses, here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, Stoke and Wyken. 

This week on the Stoke and Wyken team our neighbourhood officers have been conducting our OP GALVENISE patrols in relation to vehicle crime on the north east area of Coventry at our local hotspots. Also our DNO officers have been going into multiple shops to deliver crime prevention advice and engage with couple of the retail workers. 

We hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather because our officers from the Stoke and Wyken team certainly have whilst conducting foot and Bicycle patrols in our local green areas, such as Caludon Castle Park, Stoke Heath, Barras Green, The Lindfield and St Margret’s Skate Park. 

Crime prevention advice

Warm Weather Burglary   As the weather gets warmer, its natural to open windows and patio doors to keep your home cool. Unfortunately, burglars usually take advantage of insecure homes during the summer. Follow these simple steps to protect your home:    Always lock doors and windows when you leave the house, even if its just for a few minutes  Never leave ground floor patio doors or windows open and unattended especially at the rear of your property Keep valuables such as keys, handbags, wallets, and car keys away from and out of sight from doors and windows  Remove ladders, tools, and garden furniture that could be used to gain access to your property Use outdoor lighting and security cameras where possible, and consider using timer switches for indoor lights if you are away Look out for your neighbours and report any suspicious behaviour to the police  A few simple precautions can make a big difference. don't give burglars an easy opportunity- secure your doors and windows every time you leave your home and go to bed.  For more information about crime prevention https://www.westmidlands.police.uk/news/west-midlands/news/news/2026/july/dont-let-burglars-take-advantage-of-the-heatwave/ Together we can help keep our communities safe this summer.
