Good morning Resident,
It's been an odd week with myself being on training and annual leave, so this post is a little late, but I have still managed to put together everything that we have done on the city centre and beyond.
Lets get to it!
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – 14 arrests in total this week so we have a lot to get through. Four arrests were made this week for Assaults in and around the city centre, and another arrest for serious assault was made whereby the offence was carried out in Blackpool. The male that was arrested for the assault in Blackpool was taken in to custody and the relevant arrangements were made with the associated force with regards to interviewing and charging. A female was arrested for an EMS breach - EMS breach occurs when an individual fitted with an electronic monitoring tag violates their court-ordered or prison-release conditions (such as curfews, GPS exclusion zones, or alcohol limits), triggering an automatic alert to the UK's Electronic Monitoring Service. A male well known on Police systems was arrested on a recall to prison for poor behaviour. Another prolific offender was arrested for shop theft inside one of the city's shopping centres. Reports came in making us aware of a male exposing himself on Victoria Street this week, on arrival the male was subsequently taken in to custody for indecent exposure. A male was arrested for three counts of sexual assault. Officers stopped a vehicle in the city centre after being seen driving around with the boot open, and after talking to the occupants it was quite clear that the driver was not fit to drive his car. A quick roadside check and the male was arrested for being unfit to drive through drink and/or drugs. The vehicle was parked up by officers and his passenger had a long journey home on the bus. Another arrest was made for a robbery. An arrest was made for stalking and harassment of an ex-partner. And finally, a female was arrested for breaching a non-molestation order, A breach of a non-molestation order (a civil family court injunction in the UK) is a serious criminal offence under Section 42A of the Family Law Act 1996. It carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison, a fine, or both, and police can arrest the suspect without a warrant.
Community Engagement – Our community engagement efforts started of on Sunday last week with PCSO Shotton and PCSO Wykes hosting a Cuppa with a Copper at NEXT. We had 2 members of the public attend and they seemed quite happy with the advice they were given. PC Langford carried out an ASB walk with partners this week, in attendance were members of the Police, Wolverhampton Council and also the ASB team. These walks are targeted towards educating on the ‘Do's and Don'ts' in relation to behaviour in the city centre. More recently spreading awareness about the new Public Spaces Protection Order put in place by the council. PCSO's Spittle and Holmes carried out patrols around St Johns Retail Park in relation to the recent increase in shop thefts in that area, with The Range becoming quite a hotspot for Shoplifting. Unfortunately due to my annual leave and the operational commitments of other officers on shift, our Holiday Crime Awareness event in the Wulfrun Centre had to be cancelled. I offer my sincerest apologies for anyone who was due to attend and i hope to see you at the next one on the 20th August!
Guardian Patrols – Just the standard patrols this week as far as I'm aware. No Guardian Task Force or Servator patrols in the city.
Night-Time Economy – Once again another week with no NTE shifts for my team. I'm sure I'll have something to report as we are scheduled to be on shift for the upcoming Friday night.
Other News - Reports of a lone female on the roof of the Mander Centre came in this week with officers swiftly taking action to locate her. After a short conversation with city centre officer PC Childs, the female disclosed she was upset due to arguments at home. PC Childs managed to persuade the female to climb down from the AC unit she had perched herself on and he was then able to take her home and reunite her with her parents.
