This week we have continued to support the community by conducting regular patrols around Coventry Road, Horton Square and other locations in the Small Heath and Highgate area.

One of our Police Community Support Officers has visited South and City Bordesley Campus this week to meet new and returning students and offer support and advice.

We have made several Streetlink referrals this week, offering support to some of our homeless community.

Our neighbourhood Sergeant and Police Community Support Officers attended a meeting with key members of the Sara Park Partnership, including Dream Chasers Youth Club, BCFC, CGL, and other representatives. There has been an incredible amount of work already done to improve Sara Park. The forum discussed other ways to utilise and make safe the space for the local community. 

Some of the team attended training focussing on Neighbourhood policing and what the future holds for it. Some new processes and practises are being embedded so that things run more efficiently.

We are increasing our patrols in the area during Birmingham City Football games, unfortunately we have seen an increase in car crime, both theft from a motor vehicle and theft of a motor vehicle. Please be vigilant especially during these times.

Points to note 

Lock doors: Always lock your car doors and close all windows, even when parked at home.

Hide valuables: Take all bags, phones, and electronics with you or place them out of sight in the boot.

Never leave it running: Turn off the engine and take your keys whenever you step away from the vehicle.

Parking: if available, park in a well lit location such as under street lighting.

Extra Security: Consider other methods of securing your vehicle, an alarm, immobiliser, steering lock or tracker
