Weekly round-up from your local Neighbourhood Team

Weekly round-up from your local Neighbourhood Team

Hello Resident,

✅ Good News from Your Local Policing Team ✅

Summary: This week we've successfully apprehended several local shoplifters including an individual who was outstanding for 14 shoplifting offences across the Binley and Willenhall area. That individual has since been charged and is now awaiting trial for these offences.

Why It Matters: On the run up to Christmas, Halloween and the festive period more generally we see an uptick in shoplifting and similar offences every year. By getting ahead of this and pro-actively arresting shoplifters before this period starts we're looking to help reduce the impact this will have on local stores this year.

📅 Upcoming Police & Community Engagements 📅

Event: Cuppa with a Copper

Date/Time: 06/11 at midday
Location: John White Centre, Grange Avenue, Binley
Details: Our next Cuppa with a Copper event is going to be hosted at the John White Centre in Binley. It's a good opportunity to speak to one of your local neighbourhood team face to face and raise any issues you may be having.

🚨 Crime & Safety Updates — What You Need to Know 🚨

We're seeing an uptick in vehicle related crime across the local neighbourhood area along with several theft of motor vehicles in recent weeks. We've been conducting visits to effected areas and stepping up patrols. However, as a means of ensuring that everyone is up to speed we thought we'd share some tips to help reduce the risk of you being targeted.

✅ Crime Prevention Tips:

Never leave your vehicle unlocked when you're not inside it. This will help reduce the risk of opportunistic offenders gaining access to your vehicle overnight or whilst you're not watching.

Don't leave anything valuable visible from the outside. Even some loose change can be enough cause for some individuals to attempt to break into your vehicle.

Make sure your windows are always fully closed before leaving your vehicle. Criminals can use an open window to attempt to unlock the vehicle from the outside.

If you have electronic keys and locks on your vehicle, keep your keys in a faraday cage to prevent them being copied and used to gain access to your vehicle.

Report anything suspicious you see, especially at night, and if you catch any individuals trying car door handles or seeking to gain entry to a vehicle you don't believe to be theirs call 999 immediately.
