Further regarding Fly-tipping Business scam.

You must verify that the company has a valid waste carrier licence and get a written receipt, because you are legally responsible under your duty of care if your rubbish is illegally dumped (fly-tipped).

Key Rules for Using a Rubbish Removal Company

Check the Licence: Always ask to see the company's waste carrier certificate or check their registration number on the Environment Agency Public Register

Get a Waste Transfer Note or Receipt: Request a written receipt or waste transfer note showing the company's details, the vehicle registration number, and where your waste is going. Keep this document.

Understand Household vs. Commercial Rules:

If it is standard household waste, request a receipt/invoice and keep a record.
If it is business or commercial waste, you are legally required to complete and store a formal Waste Transfer Note for at least two years.

Avoid Council Tip Misuse: Private waste operators cannot legally take commercial or paid-for customer waste to council-run Household Waste Recycling Centres; doing so can lead to prosecution for both you and the carrier.

Fines for Non-Compliance: If you hand your rubbish to an unlicensed carrier and it gets fly-tipped, you can face substantial on-the-spot fines, prosecution, or a criminal record—even though you paid someone else to clear it.

Please exercise caution and avoid engaging with them if you have any concerns.

If you are approached and have concerns, please report the matter to the police on 101. If a crime is in progress or there is an immediate danger, call 999.
