What personal information do you require?
To sign up to the new WMNow system, you are required to complete an online, secure registration form which will help us to target our information to you.

Will you share my details with other agencies?
During the registration process and in your 'administration' area you will have the opportunity to review and select additional licensed information providers who will, if authorised by you, be able to see your data and send you messages. Although all the information providers listed may not be actively using the system at this time, you will be notified as they come on board. You can remove any information provider at any time.  Your data can never be sold to outside agencies, it is stored within the highly secure, encrypted, Neighbourhood Alert system and managed under strict data processing framework.

Will you send me spam?
No, the only communication we will have with you will be via the WMNow email and occasional consultation via email.

Can I cancel my subscription?
You can opt out of the entire system or update your settings to configure the types of messages that you want to receive and remove the ones you don't want. Emails from the WMNow system have a link at the bottom to 'change settings'; simply click on this link to review your settings and update them.

Why do you ask for my telephone and mobile number?
The WMNow system allows us to send messages via telephone and text services, however, we will only be communicating regularly with you via email, so it is important you include an email address. On very rare occasions, when we need to get information out to you in an emergency, we may use the telephone and text services. If you don't include an email address, you will not receive any messages from us. Also if your email becomes unavailable for whatever reason, we need your mobile number so we can contact you to let you know that we are having problems delivering your email alerts.

How will I know emails are from West Mids Police?
All WMNow messages are sent within the secure Neighbourhood Alert system, they come from and are clearly branded as being from West Midlands Police.  All WMNow emails can be replied to and rated, if you click either of these options, you should find that the web address is (the system provider's address).

Even if you do not hear from us directly then please be assured that everything you send us is reviewed.  These messages are sent out to request information regarding specific issues or to advise or update you, unless we have specifically requested information regarding an incident, please do not use this system to report crime.  If a crime is in progress or you have information relating to an incident, please report it by calling 999 or 101.

Do others see my email address?
No, other subscribers will not see any of your details.

Can I forward or print out WMNow messages and share it with friends, or is it confidential?
Unless specifically marked as such, these messages are not confidential and we welcome you to share messages and to introduce others to the scheme.  You can advise friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to sign up to WMNow themselves by clicking here or you can add people to your own, secure forwarding lists within the system.

It is not recommended that you forward the WMNow emails directly to other people (using the conventional "forward" button) as this is not secure and if they reply or un-subscribe using your email buttons it will cause confusion.  The WMNow system provides a way for you to store and manage your own list(s) of people that you want to regularly forward important and relevant messages to.  The "Share" facility is accessed directly from all WMNow emails and by logging in to the system, you can read more about the share system here.  It is fully supported by the system providers who can be contacted on

Is this to replace Neighbourhood Watch?
No, this will not be replacing any Neighbourhood Watch schemes. We hope it will complement existing schemes and initiatives.
